About Linglo
What is Linglo?
A language exchange app — you meet people from other countries and talk, in your language and theirs. Text or voice, real conversations, not scripted lessons.
Is Linglo free?
Yes. Core language exchange features are free. Some optional extras may be offered as in-app purchases — anything paid is labeled clearly in the store and in the app.
Is Linglo a dating app?
No. Matching is about language goals, not romance. If that's what you're looking for, this isn't the place for it.
Am I talking to a real person, or a bot?
A real person. Linglo is built for human-to-human conversation, not scripted exercises or an AI chatbot standing in for one. If you ever suspect an account isn't behaving like a real person, that's exactly what reporting is for — see Safety & Reporting below.
Where can I download Linglo safely?
Google Play, the Apple App Store, Amazon Appstore, Huawei AppGallery, or web.linglo.app on desktop.
Do not install APK files or copies from forums. They are not from us and may be unsafe.
Privacy & security
What data do you collect, and why?
Account info (name, email), profile info (languages, learning goals), and the messages/voice you send through the app — collected to run the core product, not sold. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Are my messages and calls private?
Yes — messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted. Only you and the person you're talking to can read or hear them.
Do you sell my data?
No. Your information is only shared with: the language partner you choose to connect with, service providers who help run the platform, law enforcement when legally required, or anyone else only with your explicit consent. That's the complete list.
How do I delete my account and my data?
Self-service, right in the app — no need to email anyone:
1. Settings → Account Settings → Delete Account 2. Confirm, then type DELETE (all capitals) to verify 3. Your account is deleted immediately and you're logged out
This is permanent — there's no recovery window. You can sign up again later with the same email, but it starts as a brand-new account with none of your old data.
If you're locked out and can't reach Settings yourself, email [email protected] from your registered address and we'll handle it manually.
Safety & reporting
How do I report or block someone?
From their profile or the conversation, use Report or Block. Blocking is immediate and stops them from reaching you. Reporting sends it to our team for review.
What actually happens after I report someone?
Reports go through both automated screening and human review before any action is taken — it's a real review queue, not a black hole. For urgent situations, blocking is instant even while a report is being reviewed.
Is public content — the Wall, Topic Battle — moderated too?
Yes. Public posts and comments are automatically screened, and anything flagged goes into a human review queue before it's fully visible again. This is separate from private messages, which stay end-to-end encrypted and aren't reviewed by staff.
What should I watch out for?
The most common risk on any app where you meet new people: someone who moves the conversation off-platform fast, asks for money, gifts, or financial help, or tells a story that escalates quickly. Real language partners don't ask for money. If it feels like that pattern, stop replying, block, and report — you're not being rude, you're being safe.
Is Linglo appropriate for teenagers?
Store ratings list Linglo for teens and older. We expect respectful behavior and give tools to report or block. Parents should still talk with teens about online safety, as with any app where you meet new people.
Using the app
How do I set up my profile and start?
After installing, create an account and add the languages you speak and the ones you're learning. Complete your profile so partners know what to expect, then explore the community or reply to someone who matches your goals.
How do I find partners?
Your profile languages and interests surface people who fit what you want to practice. Start with text, move to voice when you're comfortable.
What's the colored ring around some profile photos?
It shows how complete that profile is — photo, bio, languages, verified email, location, and a few other fields. It's a completeness indicator, not a rating or a score.
What is Crown?
An optional, coin-purchased status tier — Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Diamond — shown on a profile, on cards, and in chat. You unlock one tier at a time, priced at the difference from your current tier, and it never expires. Crown is separate from Premium: it's a visible status mark, not a subscription, and it doesn't change matching speed or unlock any other feature.
What is Boost?
A coin-purchased placement at the top of Community's "Top" tab for 24 hours. Any user can buy it, including free (non-Premium) accounts.
What is Premium?
A subscription that removes ads and adds a Premium badge to your profile.
What is Topic Battle?
An optional game mode: two people write on the same topic within a time limit, and others vote on the result. Not required for normal language exchange.
Can Linglo replace a course or exam prep?
It's built for real conversation, not a fixed syllabus. Pairs well with classes or exam books — you apply what you study in live chats.
Which languages are available?
Many — depends on who's active when you use the app. You'll find partners across English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Arabic, and more. Set your languages to get relevant suggestions.
Support
I cannot log in. What should I try?
Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data, then fully close and reopen the app. If it still fails, wait a few minutes and retry.
Still stuck? Email [email protected] from the address tied to your account with what you're seeing (error message, blank screen, loop) and which sign-in method you use — screenshots help.
What phones and tablets are supported?
Android and iOS, and a web app at web.linglo.app for desktop. A reasonably recent device or browser with a stable connection works best for messages and voice.
Do I need to speak English to use Linglo?
No. Set the languages you speak and the ones you're learning, then find partners who match. Many people use Linglo when English isn't their first language.
How fast do you answer email?
We read every message to [email protected] but don't promise a fixed response time. For urgent safety issues, use in-app reporting and blocking first — those are immediate.
