What is Linglo?
Say hello. Talk. Learn their language.
Linglo is a place to meet people from other countries through real conversations. You help someone with your language, they help you with theirs — and along the way, you might make a friend, learn how people live somewhere else, or end up talking to someone you'd never have met otherwise.
Why Linglo exists
You don't usually wake up thinking: I really want to study grammar today.
You might want to talk to someone from another country.
You might want to understand what life is like somewhere you've never been.
You might be preparing to move abroad.
You might want friends who speak another language.
Or you might simply be curious about someone whose life looks completely different from yours.
Language is what gets you there.
But a grammar exercise can't tell you what someone in Seoul had for dinner.
A vocabulary list can't tell you why someone chose to live in Tokyo.
A lesson can't become your friend.
A person can.
That's why Linglo is built around people first.
Language starts the conversation. People make it worth coming back.
What happens on Linglo?
Start with a conversation
Find someone who speaks the language you're learning.
Send a message.
Maybe you start with something simple: “What did you do today?”
They answer in their language. You answer in yours.
A few messages later, you're not studying anymore. You're just talking.
Talk the way you want
Some conversations are easier by text. Others are better when you hear someone's voice.
Start with text. Move to voice when you feel comfortable — there's no teacher waiting to correct every sentence, just a real person.
Don't know a word? Tap it. You can see the translation without leaving the conversation, then keep talking.
The goal isn't to translate everything. It's to understand enough to keep the conversation going.
Turn language practice into a game
Sometimes you need a reason to start talking.
In Topic Battle, two people get the same topic and a limited amount of time to answer.
Write your answer. Read theirs. See what the community thinks.
You're practicing a language, but you're also trying to say something better than the other person.
See what people are talking about
The Community Wall is where people share things from their lives — a thought, a question, a photo, something they learned, something that happened today.
You can read it and keep scrolling. Or you can reply.
Because behind every post is a person you can actually talk to.
Someone is always somewhere
It's morning for you. It's evening for someone else.
You might be having coffee while they're getting ready for bed — that difference is part of the experience.
You don't have to travel across the world to meet someone living there. Sometimes you just need to start a conversation.
You don't have to install anything
Open Linglo in your browser. Look around. Find someone. Start talking.
You can decide later whether you want the app.
You'll start noticing who's worth your time
Not everyone who joins Linglo is looking for the same thing.
Some people say hello once and disappear. Some create a profile and never really use it.
Others take the time to introduce themselves. They fill out their profile. They talk to people. They come back.
And eventually, you start noticing something.
Some profiles simply feel different.
You see the same people again. They're having conversations. They're part of the community.
And you'll notice a small mark around some of their profiles. It's not a badge you can buy your way into — it's what authenticity looks like when you show up, again and again, as a real person.
That's the kind of community we're trying to build. Not one where you have to spend your time figuring out who might actually respond.
Less time searching. More time talking to people you actually want to know.
