Absolutely. While people view deepfakes as occasional internet pranks or memes, the real danger is the complete erosion of trust. When any video or audio can be forged convincingly, bad actors can manipulate elections, ruin reputations overnight, and execute massive fraud. The scariest part is the "liar’s dividend"—real evidence can now easily be dismissed by simply claiming, "it’s a deepfake." Society is nowhere near prepared for the consequences.
